Drive down Old 41 on a Friday night this October and you will pass a line outside a live-music venue with two bars, a bottle shop doing tastings out of a mural-covered storefront, and a sourdough-and-mezze restaurant that picked up a Michelin Bib Gourmand nod earlier this year. The restaurant's story began in one couple's kitchen.
Brandon and Caitlin Schewe opened The Bohemian first, an eclectic room that built its following on a menu that changed depending on what showed up that week. They followed it with Downtown Coffee & Wine as a daytime anchor on the same block, then Canary Club in the summer of 2025, a wood-fired pizza and mezze concept with floor-to-ceiling coral paint and three-day-fermented sourdough that Gulfshore Life put on its January 2026 Best New Restaurants list. Canary Club has since picked up a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition, a level of outside attention that would have been hard to imagine on this stretch of Old 41 a decade ago. In April 2026, the same team opened a fourth spot, Wichcraft Gourmet Sandwiches, in Entrada Plaza, a chef-driven sandwich shop with a marble bar and a private chef's room for small events.
The Old 41 corridor now includes four ventures from the same couple, opened one after another over roughly six years.
Other operators on the corridor
A mural-covered bottle shop called Craft Spirits Social opened in the Entrada plaza, built entirely around indie, small-batch distillers rather than the usual national labels. On the water, the team behind Doc Ford's took over the address long occupied by Bonita Bill's, a well-known local staple, and reopened it in fall 2025 as Bonita Fish Company with an expanded bar and a new menu. The reopening adds another established restaurant operator to the corridor.
Sugarshack Downtown, the live-music venue and full-service restaurant that opened in early 2025 with two bars and a retail shop, has become the corridor's nightlife anchor in the same way Coconut Point anchors weekend retail a few miles south. Its weekly calendar includes free live music six nights a week.
What's actually on the calendar this fall
If you already live here, the useful part isn't that Old 41 has restaurants now. It's what's booked. Sugarshack's schedule for the next two months includes:
- A Dave Matthews tribute band opening the venue's 2026 Fall Tour on October 10
- Montgomery Gentry featuring Eddie Montgomery on Wednesday, November 11
- Ripe, bringing funk, rock, and R&B to the Fall Tour, on Sunday, November 22 at 6 p.m., free admission
Rooftop at Riverside sits a block over and runs its own weekly draws, including a Wednesday dog-friendly happy hour and a bingo night, giving the corridor a second gathering point beyond the Sugarshack stage.
Riverside Park and downtown parking
Here is where the story stops being just about restaurants. Riverside Park, the city's most-used public gathering space and home to the historic Liles Hotel, artist cottages, and a bandshell, has been closed for phase 2 renovation since April 2026, with construction expected to run through November. The city made a one-time exception to temporarily reopen the park for Star Spangled Bonita on July 4, then closed it back down. If the timeline holds, the park comes back online this winter, right as the restaurant corridor around it is at its busiest.
Parking is tightening at the same time. The Bamboo Lot, which had been available for public and event parking during earlier construction phases, stopped taking public parking on December 1, 2025, as it's redeveloped into a mixed-use project with retail, residential units, and its own parking structure. Until that opens, the city is pointing downtown visitors to on-street spots and the Felt's Avenue lot. If you're planning a night at Sugarshack or dinner at Canary Club this fall, building in a few extra minutes to park somewhere other than the Bamboo Lot is worth doing now rather than discovering it on arrival.
The restaurants and public spaces are changing at the same time. The corridor now draws Michelin attention and weekend crowds that fill Rooftop at Riverside and Sugarshack on the same nights. It also has four ventures from one family, an established seafood operator, and a full-scale music venue. Riverside Park is expected to reopen this winter, while the Bamboo Lot is being redeveloped.
What else is filling in around it
The momentum isn't confined to Old 41 itself. Midtown at Bonita, a mixed-use development on Bonita Beach Road, has been announcing new tenants through the summer, and Imperial 41, another mixed-use project taking shape nearby, has an Oberweis Ice Cream & Dairy shop planned as part of a commercial area that will eventually include a riverfront restaurant space, with an expected opening in 2027. Neither project is on Old 41 itself. Both add to the broader mix of businesses and development around Bonita Springs.
If you're marking a calendar for the season, the Bonita Springs Historical Society-benefiting Brew Fest at Riverside Park is worth flagging early. Ticket allotments for the event have run limited in past years, with only 1,800 general admission and 150 VIP passes available, and this year's tickets go on sale October 1.
None of this requires a plan to move or sell anything. It just requires knowing where to park.
